Magento Vs Shopify

If you’re struggling to choose between Magento Vs Shopify, you are not the only one. This debate still continues to the day, since both of these two are the most popular e-commerce platforms in the market. The first thing you need to get out of your way is an undemanding of Magento and Shopify.
Magento is an open-source e-commerce platform but requires a good skill set to be used, whereas Shopify is an e-commerce platform that allows its users to create and maintain e-stores. The main purpose of it lies in it.

Where is it easier to set up a store?
If you want you set up a store why wouldn’t you be look for the easiest way, right? Magento supports CMS (Content Management System) which is less user-friendly than the services that Shopify has to offer. Like already said, Magento requires coding; even though it’s a very powerful platform it’s complex when compared to Shopify. Setting up a store in Shopify is as simple as just logging in into a new software without knowing a single line of code.
Winner: Shopify.

Which platform offers better themes and designs?
Magento offers around 16 themes that are paid and free: 10 of them are mobile responsive where Shopify offers 60 customizable and highly professional themes. Magento offers the feature to create your own themes too but it requires a high level of coding or professional help.
Winner: Shopify.

Which platform offers better add-ons and apps?
Magento being an open-source platform offers add-ons where Shopify provides apps. Magento offers more than 5000 paid and free extensions for your stores and most of them don’t require great level of coding experience or skills to use.  on the other hand, Shopify offers 2400+ free and paid apps from which you can choose which suits your store the best. They're not a huge difference in both of these, both of the add-ons and apps give similar results.
Winner: a tie.

Which platform offers better payment options?
Magento doesn't have a method of its own but it provides around 150 different payment apps you can integrate your store with, the whole system can get complex since many apps seem similar. Where Shopify offers its own payment method, it is the first-ever e-commerce store to do so. With its own store, it also provides the feature to integrate to already available payment methods like PayPal or Amazon-Pay but a transaction fee ranging is deducted from 0.5%-2% on each sale. Magneto payment apps provide another perk of supporting multi-languages.
Winner: both are great based on the needs.

Which platform is more expensive?
Magento is a free open-source platform but it's also self-hosted which means there will be no setting up a store fee but hosting charges will be payable. Hosting charges depend upon the third-party who’s providing the hosting service, they can be as little as $5 and range from it to $1500 etc.
Shopify on the other hand, offers different monthly plans:
  • Basic $29/month
  • Pro $79/month
  • Unlimited $179/month

Winner: a tie.

Both of the platforms have their pros and cons, so choosing one can entirely be based on the requirements of the store you want to create. But to create a conclusion, Magento is known for its strong and powerful structure and services but it also requires great skills- if the project is of enterprise-level, budget is also good then go for Magento but if the store you want to develop is relatively small and needs easy customization then Shopify is the better choice.
